Kakatoa (Bengali: কাকাতোয়া) is a premium home-decor brand from Bangladesh. Every piece is made by hand by Bangladeshi artisans, so no two are exactly alike. The collection is organised into two categories by material — jute (পাট) and cane (বেত). Orders are placed online at kakatoa.store and paid cash on delivery anywhere in Bangladesh, with no advance payment.

The two categories: jute and cane
Jute is Bangladesh’s own fibre — light, strong and completely biodegradable. Woven tight, it holds its shape for years, needs no more care than a shake and an occasional hand wash, and it does not fade the way dyed plastic does. Cane is the older craft of the two: springy, hard-wearing and comfortable to the touch, it only needs wiping with a dry cloth. Both are grown and worked in Bangladesh, so buying them keeps a traditional craft alive rather than replacing it with a moulded plastic substitute.
